CPA Practice Advisor and the American Institute of CPAs have opened the nomination period for one of its most prestigious awards. The Most Powerful Women in Accounting nomination period was announced opened during the AICPA & CIMA Women’s Global Leadership Summit, held November 8-10 in Miami, Fla., and will close on January 15, 2023.
“Part of our Women’s Initiative Executive Committee mission is to help amplify the voices of the women in the profession so that they are heard and recognized,” said Mandy Gallaher, Lead Manager of Women’s Initiatives at AICPA. “It is a great joy to be able to take part in an award that not only celebrates women in the profession, but also highlights what they are doing to help the future of the profession.
The award, now in its eleventh year, was created by CPA Practice Advisor and is jointly administered by the AICPA and CPA Practice Advisor to promote and support the success of women leaders as part of its broader mission of sustaining the profession. Women are nominated from their peers, and a group of independent judges select the award recipients, using the following criteria for candidates:
- She has been playing an active role in innovation and excellence within her organization.
- She is one of the top leaders in the accounting profession.
- She is a mentor, a sponsor and/or a role model, and someone who stands out in her ability to encourage and help those around her thrive and flourish
- She contributes to the future of the profession.
- She represents the accounting profession outside of her day-to-day job through participation in her community and outside organizations.
